Under the patronage of the Governor of Madaba, Dr. Mohammad Smairan, the American University of Madaba celebrated the birthday of his Majesty, King Abdullah II on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the university campus.
Guests included members of Madaba Governorate representatives and key figures who also participated in the ceremony of raising the Great Arab Revolt flag.
Prof. President Karim Numayr spoke about the Great Arab Revolt and its effect on shaping the region and regaining the integrity of the Arabs. The Governor of Madaba, Dr. Mohammad Smairan also spoke to the crowd about the importance of the American University of Madaba and its continuous support to the local community and the Kingdom. Mr. Mustafa Maya’a, Mayor of Madaba, spoke about the positive changes the University has accomplished in the local community.
Other noted speakers were Dr. Shahla Ojaili and Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Zaid Hassasneh.
The day was filled with activities that included a show by the Latin Patriarchate Schools Scouts, the Adventure Challenge Team, and a show by The Motorcycle Club of Jordan. The events of the day were broadcast live by Amen FM 89.5.
