The new president of the American University of Madaba (AUM) Prof. Nabil Ayoub was formally announced by the Higher Education Council at its meeting held on Thursday, February 2, 2017. The appointment was based on the recommendation of the University’s Board of Trustees.
President Nabil Ayoub holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Nuclear Physics, from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1978. He has worked at the Department of Physics, Yarmouk University, since 1978, and taught at UCSD - California and at UT- Austin in Texas, USA, and at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
Since February 2015 Dr. Ayoub occupied the position of the Dean of the “School of Basic Sciences and Humanities" at the German Jordanian University, and was a member of the Jordanian Higher Education Council--the highest governing board in Jordan-- appointed by a Royal Decree by His Majesty King Abdallah II from 2015 till Feb 2017. In addition to that, Dr. Ayoub was a consultant to the President of AUM from 2010 to 2011.
Dr. Nabil Ayoub, through his scientific and professional career, received many awards; Fulbright Award to UCSD-California in 1989-1990, and Fulbright Award to University of Texas at Austin in 1996, Associate member of the International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy, 1991-1996, DAAD Award in 1991 Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe, Germany and SCOPUS Award for Excellence in Research in April 2009.
Dr. Ayoub has published more than seventy publications in international journals, besides to two university level books (as a co-author).
