An agreement has been signed for the design, supply, delivery, installation, operation, and 3-year maintenance of a solar powered system using photovoltaic cells, for American University of Madaba.
The agreement is between American University of Madaba represented by its President, Dr. Nabil Ayoub, and by Izzat Marji Group represented by its General Manager, Engineer Basil Marji. It will be implemented within a period of ninety days from the date of signing.
The photovoltaic cell units, with an ability of up to 1.329 MW, will be installed in several locations at the university, including the roofs of faculties’ buildings and in parking areas.
It should be noted that the American University of Madaba is constantly seeking ways to adopt clean and renewable energy sources to supply its needs. For example, since 2011 the university has relied on a groundwater energy system for the purposes of cooling its buildings. As an environmentally - friendly institution, the implementation of the new solar project will save the university an estimated 50,000 JOD per month.
The signing ceremony was attended by the President, Assistant for Administrative and Executive Affairs / Chairman of the Central Tenders Committee, Mr. Adnan Sahawneh, by Dean of the Faculty of Engineering / Chairman of the Technical Committee of the tender , Prof. Dr. Hendry Ammari and by members of the technical and financial committee.
