Prof. Nabil Ayoub, the president of the American University of Madaba (AUM) inaugurated on Monday the “Garden of Mercy” exhibition at the AUM’s school of Architecture and design.
The exhibition showcased designs for an interfaith garden in AUM campus by students of third year architectural design Studio taught by Dr. Yasir Sakr. Accompanied by Prof. Ahmad Zoubi, the dean of the school of Architecture and Dr. Loiy Ali Bani Ismail, president Ayoub was briefed by Dr. Sakr and his students about the project and its implications.
The “Garden of Mercy;” is a landmark in AUM campus, an icon of a main mission of AUM’s; to promote the experience of “Mercy” among AUM’s community and the Jordanian society which embraces plurality within the unity of human values and citizenship. Located near the gateway of the campus, the garden features a payer space and chapel for Muslim and Christian students, charitable structures, and mediative places within a distinctive spiritual landscape open for people of all faiths.
Prof. Nabil Ayoub commented that “the “Garden of Mercy” sends Humanity a global message of love and hope, much needed at the turbulent times that our region is presently undergoing.” The president commended “the passionate way with which the students embraced and communicated this message through inspiring designs which demonstrated remarkable levels of creativity, sensitivity, and craftsmanship.
”Earlier, a jury committee of leading specialists representing Jordanian Universities and practices highly valued the designs and recommended some for consideration in AUM Campus future development plans."
