In order to foster communication with local and international music communities, AUM invited Melissa Scott, an American researcher in ethnomusicology, to discuss her ongoing journey into Arab music with AUM students. She visited “Appreciation of Music” and “Introduction to Musicology,” administrated by the Faculty of Design and Architecture and instructed by Eng. Fadi Al-Ghawanmeh, this past Saturday. She performed musical pieces on Oud from the Arab music repertoire and had an interactive discussion with students on tarab music. Melissa Scott is a PhD student at the University of California, Berkeley, preparing for her dissertation on classical Arab music in Jordan.
